2006 - Sue Digre  Pacifica Mayor & Councilwoman

Anna Boothe, director of POPS (Preserve Our Pier Supporters) announced that Mayor Sue Digre will receive the second annual POPS community Service Award. Sue, known to us for her active involvement in our community and work for PARCA, has been an advocate for the pier since the beginning of POPS five years ago when the organization began support for the implementation of the first state $500,000 repair grant given to us, then withdrawn because of lack of funds, says Boothe. "With her leadership, another grant of $500,000 by the California Coastal Conservancy was quickly implemented with repairs last year. Sue is an active supporter of the environment and historical heritage of Pacifica and gives careful scrutiny to any measure proposed to the Council which could affect the environment. She is also active in her support of our Shop Pacifica program to keep our sales tax dollars at home and of recognition of our troops serving abroad, including a son who is on his way to Iraq.
